Dineout is a restaurant table reservation service firm based in New Delhi, India, launched in 2012. Dineout claims to have expanded by over 200 percent since being acquired by Times Internet Ltd (formerly TimesCity) in 2014.
According to the firm, it offers online bookings for around 25,000 eateries across the country and serves over 1.5 million customers each month across eight cities (as of September 2018). Okay, now that we’ve covered the Wiki information, let’s move on to the real-world application.
Why do you want to eat out?
When ICICI Bank offered an Rs.1000 Dineout Voucher Offer on their Amex co-branded credit cards, that was the first time I heard about Dineout App. I used to give the certificates out to my friends at first, but one day I decided to look into it, and that’s when I realized the Dineout App’s true potential.
Their USP, in my opinion, is their Dineout Pay option, which they formerly referred to as Smartpay. It functions more like a wallet and may be used to pay for meals in restaurants just like cash. Some establishments require reservations, while others do not.

Dineout, like most other dining apps, is now limited to metro areas. Here’s what they’ve got going on right now:
- Delhi
- Mumbai
- Bangalore \sKolkata
- Pune
- Chennai
- Ahmedabad
- Hyderabad
Dineout was a great experience for me. Since learning about the app, I’ve accumulated roughly Rs.4000 in Dineout Pay through the ICICI deal, which I’ve utilized in a variety of venues in Chennai, including Punjab Grill and Coal Barbecues. Here’s an example of a meal I had at Mamagoto, a Pan Asian restaurant in Chennai.
I made a reservation for two people one hour in advance and alerted the restaurant before we started eating. The app stated that we would receive a complimentary mocktail with our reservation, but it failed to mention that it was only valid on weekdays, so we were unaware of this. We ordered a variety of new meals that I had no idea existed in Chennai. Here’s a quick rundown of the lunch as well as the bill.
