Tata Power
Tata Power Firm Limited is an Indian electric utility company that is part of the Tata Group and is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The company’s primary business is to generate, transfer, and distribute power. It is India’s largest integrated power company, with a total installed capacity of 10,577 MW. Tata Power was placed third in IIM Udaipur’s 2017 Responsible Business Rankings. Tata Power became the first Indian company to ship more than 1 GW of solar modules in February 2017.
Operations:
Tata Power has activities in India, Singapore, Indonesia, South Africa, and Bhutan, among other places. Tata Power Group operates in 35 places around India. The company’s thermal power plants are located in Mumbai, Mundra in Gujarat, Jojobera and Maithon in Jharkhand, Kalinganagar in Odisha, Haldia in West Bengal, and Belgaum in Karnataka. The hydro stations are in Maharashtra’s Western Ghats, and the wind farms are in Ahmednagar, Supa, Khanke, Brahmanwel, Gadag, Samana, and Visapur. Trombay was home to India’s first 500 MW unit, Bhira’s first 150 MW pumped storage unit and Trombay’s first flue gas desulphurization plant for pollution management. It has generation capacity in the states of Jharkhand and Karnataka, as well as a distribution company in Delhi that serves over one million customers distributed across 510 square kilometres in North Delhi. The peak load in this region is approximately 1,150 MW. Tata Power announced the commissioning of the second unit of the Maithon mega thermal project in Dhanbad on July 24, 2012. In September 2011, the first unit of the same capacity was commissioned.
Adani Power
Adani Power Limited is an Indian power industry company of the Adani Group, with headquarters in Khodiyar, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It has a capacity of 12,450 MW and is a private thermal power production. It also operates a 40 MW mega solar project at Naliya, Bitta, Kutch, Gujarat. It is the first firm in India to synchronise supercritical technology. Adani Godda Power is building a 1,600 MW power station in Jharkhand.
The business has secured long-term electricity purchase agreements with the governments of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Punjab totalling around 9,153 MW.
Operations:
Adani Construction-
- Mundra Thermal Power Station is a 4,620 MW (4330 MW + 5660 MW) coal-fired thermal power station in Mundra, Gujarat.
- It operates the first 400 kV Double Circuit Transmission System power transmission project from the Mundra plant to Dehgam (430 km).
- Kawai Thermal Power Station is a 1,320 MW (2660 MW) coal-fired thermal power station located in Kawai village in Rajasthan’s Baran district. This plant is completely operational.
- Tiroda Thermal Power Station is a 3,300 MW (5660 MW) coal-fired thermal power station in Tirora, Maharashtra.
- It is the state’s largest coal-fired thermal power plant.
- In Bitta, Kutch Gujarat, the enterprise generates 40 MW of solar power. This power plant was completed in 165 days in 2011.
